2 Corinthians 5:18-21

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were running your own religion?  How would you structure it?  What would be its central teachings? How would you go about spreading the word about this religion, what would you do?

A Super Bowl commercial might not be a bad start. Then you might need to get celebrity spokespersons (I would stay away from Tom Cruise). Then if it was in your power you might want to do some supernatural things (maybe a few miracles or an angel or two for effect).

One thing that I can say, I would not use people to spread the message. They are just too unreliable. But yet that is exactly what God does, He uses sinners who have experienced His love to be His messengers. 2 Corinthians5:18-21 states it this way:

Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

I had a seminary professor who said it this way:  “Our lives have significance, not in the idea that God has an individual purpose for each one of us, but in the startling truth that he includes us in the accomplishment of his purpose.” God purpose for each one of us is that we would be living examples of His love and grace spreading the message of who He is.
