2 Corinthians 10:5

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”   This simple verse, I believe, helps unlock a host of spiritual power in our lives.  That is, the power of taking our thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ.  How many times do we catch ourselves in fantasy conflict with a person or playing out some upcoming stressful situation in our mind (which inevitably never happens quite like we foresaw).  Paul encourages us to take control of our thoughts and line them up with the truth of who God is and His sovereign rule over our lives.  This isn’t some 1st century pop psychology, but rather the first line of defense in this other-worldly war that we find ourselves engaged in (10:3).
